The Spell Book
A night of spoken word, song and storytelling

Somewhere between the realm of song and verse, ceremony and magic…

Weaving modern and minimal classical guitar and trance like rhythms…

Nicholas Malin brings his unique transformational wordsmithing to Growan.

Bring your notebook, spell-book, journal, pens, and magic wands.

And an open heart and curious mind.

Music and words are performed semi-improvised, With inspirations from timeless wisdom, intergalactic beings, psychedelic teachings, enlightened masters, and his own words.

Our voices are the technology of magic

“Nicholas crafts not just songs, but experiences - ceremonial and magical, that uplift and inspire, transporting listeners to otherworldly realms while firmly rooting them in the profound nature of the human condition.”

A bit about our host:
Nicholas Malin is a transformational wordsmith and lifelong musician.

When Covid lockdown wiped out his normal bass playing festivals, gigs, and performances, The Spell Book was born. Guided by plant medicine and a call from the Peruvian jungle to ‘learn classical guitar and get singing lessons’,  Nicholas did - which led him to combining intricate fingerstyle playing with powerful spoken word. What emerged is a unique blend of rhythm, reverence, and resonance: guitar woven with memorised monologues, timeless wisdom, and poetic provocations.
